Our story
How we started
Every piece of wood has a story, and so does Found Forest Woodworks. Our journey began with a simple observation: the surprising amount of stunning wood being lost, often from trees removed right here in our Southern California community. Inspired by the quiet beauty of these forgotten pieces, a mission was sparked.
Working within the limitations of setting and materials has always been the challenge of the artist. My workspace is a modest, compact 9x10 foot outdoor area and like the materials, many of the tools are secondhand. It was there, amidst the sounds of nature and the scent of freshly cut wood, that the creative process truly unfolded.
Our mission
At Found Forest Woodworks, we believe that beautiful wood shouldn't go to waste. From fallen branches to discarded lumber, our mission is to craft unique, sustainable goods that honor the forgotten beauty of nature. We love to tell the story of where our materials are from, and how they got there. This humble "forest" of raw material, simple tools, and a growing vision allowed Found Forest Woodworks to take its first steps, transforming discarded timber into cherished, handcrafted goods – proving that even from small beginnings, incredible beauty can be reclaimed and reborn.
